About Us
Former State Representative Kevin Green and his wife Chele believe that giving back to the community is one of the most rewarding and vital opportunities families are given in life. The Green Light Foundation was established in 2005 as a non-profit 501(c)4 organization committed to improving the health, safety and welfare of Michigan’s residents. The Foundation achieves its mission through education, stewardship and community involvement. Through the Green Light Foundation, Kevin and Chele hope to create a healthier, safer, and more compassionate community.

Current Program Work
There are many ways that the Green Light Foundation is presently achieving its goals: by donating funds to community organizations such as the Lions Club, and Wyoming’s summer concerts in the park. The Green Light Foundation’s other current focuses include Skylar’s Closet and a Grief Education Training. Skylar’s closet is a program within the Green Light Foundation to provide hand-made clothing to stillborn, sick or extreme premature babies. These packages include items such as outfits, hats, boots, blankets, and memory albums to give the babies the respect and acknowledgement they deserve. The packages are free of charge to the parents and are available through several hospitals in the West Michigan area or upon request. The Grief Education Training helps provide materials that allow medical personnel to attend and complete RTS grief counseling training. This education prepares them to assist families through the difficult time of stillbirths, sick and extreme premature births. Kevin and Chele appreciated the compassion and companionship they received when their daughter, Skylar Anne, was stillborn at 7 months on September 6, 2007.Legislative Work
During Representative Green’s tenure with the Michigan House of Representatives, he has worked on several key pieces of legislation, with the emphasis on health care reform and preserving revenue sharing to cities. Rep. Green was integral in continuing debate and discussion on those two important issues at the state level. In part of his commitment to assist local governments in spending reductions, Rep. Green introduced HB 4556, which would reduce the required hours of training for the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrols. HB 4556 would help alleviate the financial burden from the City of Wyoming, as the city continues to face financial struggles in the wake of revenue sharing reductions. The legislation that has been closest to his heart, however, has been HB 6091, which would require doctors to inform their pregnant patients about the risks of stillbirth. Rep. Green became passionate about educating expectant mothers after the loss of his daughter. Unfortunately, the legislation has stalled in the Senate, however, Rep. Green has vowed to continue the fight to pass this legislation within the new legislature so other parents do not have to experience what he and his wife, Chele, went through with Skylar. Also, Rep. Green has served on the House Insurance Committee, the House Health Policy Committee and served as the Minority Vice Chair for the Department of Community Health Subcommittee. He has also served on the House Republican leadership team as the caucus whip the last 4 years. Show Less...Our Board Members
